Is a Sun £9.50 Holiday what you need, to find your next budget break? Well, read on to find out...

All You Need To Know!

Over the last few months we've had many people contacting us, asking how the Sun Holiday £9.50/£15 breaks work and how they can book one. So, we've decided since so many people haven't ever used the Sun Holidays and it all may seem a bit daunting, we've put together an "All you need to know" article, for those looking for cheap getaway that is family friendly or somewhere new to discover with friends, on a small budget.

Where Can I go?

The breaks away are located all over the UK, France, Spain and other European countries. A few of the famous household names listed in the promotion are Haven, Butlins, Parkdean and Eurocamp, as well as others and independent holiday parks. There are a list of the sites available and what they have to offer on the Sun Website.

Do I Have To Buy The Newspaper?

No. If you are using the generic codewords, (4 letter words/numbers) these are often available online or through Facebook groups, but this will mean booking online. If you wish to opt booking through postal service then the newspaper will need to purchased to cut the coupons out and send off to the stated address. The third option is Sun Savers which involves signing up, by downloading the Sun Savers app or by registering at sunsavers.co.uk. Then go to the ‘Offers’ section of Sun Savers and click ‘Start Collecting’ on the ‘Hols from £9.50’ page. Collect and enter the Sun Savers codes from those printed at the bottom of the Sun Savers paper page each day. (If you book via Sun Savers you can use your Sun Savers wallet to pay or part pay for your holiday.)

I've Collected All The Codes, Now What?

Once you've collected all the codes (usually around seven but this will be stated during each promotion) you are now ready to book your holiday. Head over to the online booking system, you will need to enter an email address, the number of people attending, select 4 parks and 4 dates (There is an option to select an area e.g. Hampshire) the system will now find the best matches for your selections. It may state alternatives for nearby parks or different dates if those you have chosen are unavailable. Don't panic, we have found a few fantastic parks, we hadn't heard of through the alternatives.

Am I Only Going To Have To Pay £9.50 Per Person?

Don't be fooled! There are a few breaks available for only £9.50 per person (based on 4 people sharing) but these dates are "Pay Only Dates" and are usually highlighted if you are luckily enough to select a park/date available. These are usually during the out of season periods or Monday- Friday term time. We have found a couple, and they have been a total bargain and amazing way to explore different areas on a limited budget. Many of the breaks will be more than £9.50 with charges added for school holidays, busy periods. But the price WILL be stated before confirming booking. Only the PER PERSON charge will be initially taken and the rest is payable when the park sends an email confirmation with a payment date. Be aware there is generally a Service Charge, this is per UNIT (Caravan/lodge etc) and is X by the number of nights you have booked for. E.g £5 service charge × 3 nights = £15 per stay. Quite often there will be the offer of Entertainment passes, this is an optional extra and is per person. You can decide if you will use the facilities (pools, arcades, evening entertainment etc) but what is offer will be dependent on the park/ time of year. But you can always check what's on and whether you want to commit to this extra before paying your full balance through the park. Passes for the majority, are much cheaper to buy through the promotion rather than on arrival. You may also be offered an upgrade, bigger caravan, full central heating etc. This is optional and cost will need to be factored into your end price. When you receive the confirmation email, linen is likely to have been added, this is another optional extra, if you choose not to pay the linen charges, then you will require your own duvet/pillow covers and sheets. 4 legged friend? Dogs can be taken to many park for an additional charge and it's best to be booked on at this stage.

I've Booked Online, What Happens Now?

After booking through The Sun booking system, you will receive 2 emails of confirmation from the newspaper. Wait for up to 3 weeks to receive confirmation from the holiday park. If there are any further payments to be made it will be stated in this email.

Confirmation Has Arrived, Balance Paid and....

Now enjoy your holiday, explore a new village, town, city or county, may be even a new country if you are lucky!

Final Thoughts, From Us:

We have used the Sun Promotion many times and it has enabled us to discover some new and wonderful places. We go with an open mind and never expect 5 star luxury with a £40 price tag but some of the accommodations have surprised us, other have been basic (some dated) but they have all been clean and have given us a mini break away. Whilst we can continue to get bargain prices, we will continue to search for new parks and places. Always check the holiday park directly, for their own prices, others have reported getting it slightly cheaper, for us this hasn't been the case. T&C's apply. Good Luck! Happy Adventuring!
